The Body Shop Ride For Peace

By 22:04 , ,

It went on despite the haze and it was for a good cause. The Body Shop Malaysia took to their bicycles for a ride about town on Saturday 21st September in conjunction with International Day of Peace, to well, cycle for Peace.

Following a successful peace campaign last year with their Pin Wheels of Peace. The Body Shop continued with this initiative in the hopes that people would come together for peace. The event was held in conjunction with the KL Car Free Morning, organised fortnightly by Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur.

The Ride of Peace, which took part early Saturday morning saw more than 2000 eager participants who had come together for the event. Apart from the staff and friends of The Body Shop, there were also participants from Pay Pal, DBKL and member of the public. The first 1000 participants managed to score themselves a limited edition The Body Shop t-shirt and tote bag. The line was so long it was crazy.

It was really nice to see people of all ages and all walks of life just having a good time. There weren't just bicycles, there we also rollerblades and some other fancy type of conveyance. Some not only did one round of 7km but took the opportunity to go two rounds. Then there was Zumba. Everyone just really got into it, having an awesome time.

A lot of the participants stayed back for the lucky draw which comprised of Body Shop hampers as well as bicycles. The kids were really lucky that morning with quite a few of them walking away with bicycles. But the most deserving one was the final winner who turned out to be a DBKL cleaning  staff. Now that was  good end to the morning.

The United Nations has declared this year "Partnerships for Peace - Dignity For All" which aims to highlight the importance of all segments of society working together to strive for peace. Hence, The Body Shop together with campaign partners Pay Pal, DBKL as well as loyal customers and the general public got on their bicycles and cycled the seven kilometres around the city centre. We must remind ourselves and educate our children about the value of peace.

Awesome morning The Body Shop Malaysia!
