Bobbi Brown Intensive Skin Serum Foundation SPF 40 Review

By 09:14 , , ,

A skincare-makeup hybrid is just so convenient, covering up while treating. The new Bobbi Brown Intensive Skin Serum Foundation SPF 40 is made through a cutting edge bi-phase cold fusion process that allows the skincare actives to stay potent, while fusing seamlessly with foundation pigments. Skin-tone correct pigments float over the skin's surface, rather than settling in for a silky feel and fresh natural look.

How It Works
- Re-Energizes: Powerful Cordyceps Mushroom Extract helps encourage the cell repair process by replenishing skin cells with the energy they need to optimally function.
- Restores Radiance: Bamboo Grass Extract targets dullness and uneven skin tone to enhance skin's radiance, clarity and luminosity, while algae extract reduces unwanted shine and tighten pores over time.
- Boosts Moisture: A complex blend of Lychee, Watermelon and Apply Extracts hydrates skin and boosts its natural moisture levels and instantly overtime.
- Firm, Lifts & Smoothes: Peptide Technology-Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 helps stimulate natural collagen production for firmer and lifted skin.
- Barrier Repair: A natural deep sea ferment from the ocean floor helps to strengthen skin and prevent moisture from escaping.

The packaging screams chic! I am however curious as to whether that dropper goes all the way to the bottom. It's also difficult to see how much is left. A clear see through strip on the side perhaps? And although the dropper dispenser seem cool and dispenses just the right amount, it does tend to get a bit messy at the top of the bottle. All that aside, I have been looking forward to this new serum foundation.

I wear a Warm Natural (4.5) and it's a good match to my skin tone. As the name describes it, the texture is serum-like, not the runny type but a tad on the thicker side. It's really easy to blend out either using your fingertips or a brush. Coverage wise, I would say it's a light to slightly medium, not really buildable. It gives you a dewy fresh finish and lets your natural skin to shine through which is great if you have minimal imperfections. If like me you have any hyper pigmentation or post acne scars it's a little obvious but nothing some concealer can't fix.

Going back to that dewy finish on oily skin, I really like the finish of it, plus it doesn't cling on to any dry patches and looks smooth. Unfortunately it does run off at the nose area after about 2-3 hours which requires touching up. But the rest of the face stays on well for about 6 hours especially after setting it with some loose powder, after which the oiliness gets a bit difficult to sort out. It doesn't seem to oxidise too much, still looks pretty bright after a few hours. Just thought I would mention that I wore this foundation with the Bobbi Brown CC Cream as a base.

You might want to skip this if you have really oily skin and just can't deal with the dewiness and lack of oil control properties, or if you still want to give this a go, avoid wearing this on days when you're mostly outdoors. I haven't exactly seen dramatic results skincare wise over the past two weeks but what I have noticed is that my skin feels soft and looks a bit brighter.

The Bobbi Brown Intensive Skin Serum Foundation SPF40 comes in 11 shades. It retails for RM195 and is available at all Bobbi Brown outlets.
